FloristWare Technical Support Article: 10118 Internal Theft: Part 6 - Reducing Internal TheftThis article discusses simple steps you can take to reduce internal theft. Internal theft is always a concern. FloristWare can help you track it but the first line of defence is to prevent it from happening at all. Here are some steps you should follow: Keep An Eye On Things! Use the suspicious activity report and try sorting it different ways to see who is doing what, how often and when. Consider when the suspicious activity is taking place - is more of it happening during slow periods when the employee is likely to be alone? Talk To Your Employees Just expressing your concern to an employee may be enough to discourage theft. Referring to the printed Suspicious Activity report makes an even greater impression. Ask For More Information Instruct your employees to record the name and phone number of the customer when making late cancellations or issuing refunds. You can then call the customer to confirm that they did not complete their purchase or did get a refund. Change Your Settings. If you are worried about the number of Late Cancellations, you can specify that a Manager Level user approve each one. You can also specify that only managers can issue refunds. And Most Importantly... Dont get paranoid! There are legitimate reasons for all of the activities that we flag as being suspicious. Be cautious but dont be too quick to assume the worst. |
