FloristWare Screen Shots: Customer Information

When we make a sale or take an order we generally want to collect some basic information (name, phone number, etc.) from the customer because this is very valuable for marketing purposes. In the case of a simple sale we can skip the customer information but it's a good idea to at least try and collect it whenever possible.

So once we have specified that we are going to take a sale we are now going to enter the customer's name or phone number and click the "Continue" button. FloristWare will then check and see if this person has already been entered into the system.

Let's assume that the customer's name was "Anderson" and we entered "And" and hit the "Continue" button. FloristWare will find everyone whose last name starts with "And" and present them in a list as shown below:

We know that we are looking for Mark Anderson and we click the "Select" button beside his name to continue to the next step.

There are several yellow buttons at the bottom of the screen that provide different options. If for example we entered the wrong name the "Start Over" button would allow us to go back and start over again. If you are in a rush the "Skip Customer Info" button will do just that - take you out of this section and on to the next. And if the customer you are talking to does not appear on the list you would click "Create New Customer" to enter them in to FloristWare.

Once we have selected or entered the customer we see some information that will be very helpful when making a sale or taking an order. This information will help you provide the highest possible level of customer service and make sure that you make the largest possible sale.

In this case we see that their average order or "spend" is just over $50. That means that we want to get at least that much from them this time, so we're not going to suggest anything less than $50. See how this can make you money? If you didn't have this information your staff might automatically suggest a $29.95 special and you would miss out on $20. This feature is even more important when you are dealing with a customer who spends more than this one - you really want to max out the big spenders whenever possible!

We also see the number of purchases this customer has made and the total value of those purchases. This is to help you gauge how much they are worth to you as a customer. If for example they start making a lot of demands you might be more tolerant of a loyal customer who spends a lot at your store than a customer who rarely buys and makes only small purchases when they do.

The "Notes" can come in handy too. Hopefully you have recorded any information that will help you serve this customer better. In this example we see that this customer is always in a hurry. The quicker you deal with him the happier he will be and the more likely he will be to order again soon. If it said he loved golf you might want to ask how he is playing. It is all about providing the customer with the type of experience they have shown you they want to have.

The last bit of information, the "Notify About:" section is to help you market to your customers more effectively. If you think a customer will be interested in sending flowers on floral holidays like Valentines and Mother's Day you would check this box. If you think they might be interested in sending flowers on Christian (Easter, Christmas, etc.) holidays or Jewish (Yom Kippur, Passover, etc.) holidays you would check the appropriate box. When the holidays draw near you will be able to generate targeted e-mails and/or postcards, letters, brochures, etc.

When you have taken a quick glance at this information and are ready to proceed with the sale you click the "Continue" button.
