How Florists Can Deal With COVID-19: Email Marketing

The COVID-19 pandemic will quickly reshape almost all aspects of our lives. Here are some email marketing templates florists can use during this time.

How Florists Can Deal With COVID-19: Email Marketing

Although we are in the early stages it's clear that the COVID-19 pandemic will quickly reshape almost all aspects of our lives including the shopping and buying patterns of your customers. We may be looking at quarantines, mandatory self-isolation, and the closing or limiting of non-essential businesses.

But for as long as retail florists are allowed to sell flowers they should continue to sell flowers. And, in some ways, flowers are a good product for this time because they can be had (purchased online or over the phone and delivered) without physical contact.

But any marketing must be done with taste and discretion. In addition to the physical suffering many will endure the impact to the economy and jobs will likely be catastrophic.

To help you out here are some email marketing templates florists can use during this time

Option 1

The first option focusses on the health and safety of the customer first, flowers second. It is the least aggressive sell.

Your Safety is Important to Us

Your health and safety is important to us, so we wanted to let you know about the precautionary measures we are taking to deal with the Coronavirus (COVID-19).

When making a delivery to a home, our drivers will be ringing doorbells and then leaving the flowers on the steps and waiting away from the door. At a business or hospital, they will be leaving them with reception, at the front door, or nurses station.

When taking orders, we will be asking for phone numbers of the recipients so that we can let them know that our delivery will be occurring shortly.

Our drivers will be sanitizing their hands between deliveries.

And of course we will continue to clean and sanitize our sales and work areas in the shop where the flowers arrangements are created and prepped for shipment.

Protecting our employees and our customer’s health is very important to us, and at a time where flowers remain an meaningful way to celebrate a birthday, anniversary or other milestone, we remain open for business and hope to continue to help you send flowers to loved ones, safely.

Option 2

This option is more focussed on selling flowers by promoting their benefits.

The Health Benefits of Flowers

Did you know that research shows that plants and flowers provide calming and relaxing benefits to those around them, beyond being pretty to look at?

And with so many of us now limiting our social interactions, sending flowers to a friend or loved one is still a perfect way of letting them know you care about them, even if you can’t get together with them in person.

Despite the recent closures of schools and offices for the Coronavirus (COVID-19), we want to assure you that “Flower Shop” is still open for business and we would love to create the perfect arrangement for you.

Please call or visit our website today, and let us help you brighten someone’s day.

P.S.  We have also recently put in measures to ensure that our drivers will be able to safely deliver flowers to our customers. Let us know if you’d like more details.

Option 3

A slightly different take on the above, still more focussed on selling flowers than safety.

The Calming Effect of Flowers

Life’s been a bit stressful lately, hasn’t it? It seems every day there is more news about the coronavirus (COVID-19).

We want to assure you that in the midst of this, we are still open for business and that flowers remain an important part of our lives.

In fact, research has shown that the calming and relaxing benefits of plants and flowers is real and tangible.

So even if you’re unable to get together with friends or loved ones to celebrate an important event, you can still send flowers that will bring joy, beauty and comfort to those receiving them.

Please visit our website or call the shop today, and let us help you make someone’s day a lot brighter.

P.S.  We have also recently put in measures to ensure that our drivers will be able to safely deliver flowers to our customers. Let us know if you’d like more details.

Option 4

This is a combination of the two approaches, covering both your concern for the health and safety of your customers and promoting flowers in equal measure.

We Care About Your Safety

We just wanted to give you an update about some of the precautions we are taking, based on recommendations by our State officials and the CDC, to ensure the health of our customers and our employees in fighting the spread of the Coronavirus /COVID-19.

Our drivers will be using a “no-contact” delivery method, leaving flowers at the door or with a receptionist. We’ll be asking for recipient phone numbers so that we can call ahead of time and let them know to expect a delivery.

And in the store, we continue to clean and sanitize our sales and work stations, coolers, etc. multiple times daily.

We don’t know what the future holds, but we do know that flowers and plants bring joy and comfort to our lives, and if you’d like to send something to a loved one - for a birthday, anniversary or just to brighten their day during these difficult times - we’d love to help you.

The message and tone that is right for you will depend on your personal philosophy, your local market and the impact of COVID-19 there. And of course these can serve as a jumping off point for you to customize as you see fit.
