SAF 2014 Outstanding Varieties Competition
The Outstanding Varieties competition segment of the SAF Annual Convention is incredibly important to growers as a win generates tremendous exposure and interest in their products, with some examples being past Best in Show winners like Fireworks, Jiuhbao Sweetie, Balance and Robina. It is also very enjoyable for florists looking for new varieties and anyone that just loves flowers!
Entries are divided into the following twelve classes:
- Rose
- Garden Rose
- Spray Rose
- Chrysanthemum
- Cut Bulb
- Gerbera
- Alstroemeria
- Dianthus
- Other Cut Flower
- Decorative Foliage
- Potted Flowering Plant
A Best in Class winner is selected for each, with Blue and Red ribbons going to other exceptional entries. In addition one entry is selected as Best in Show. This year that honor went to the spray rose Blushing Parasol from Eufloria Flowers.
All Best in Class and Blue Ribbon winners are announced at the Kick Off Breakfast. The winners will be also featured in the November issue of Floral Management Magazine but you can find photographs and a complete list of winners on the SAF website now. We have also included some of our own photographs below.
