Tim Huckabee of FloralStrategies at WUMFA 2014
The 2014 Wisconsin & Upper Michigan Floral Association (WUMFA) held its 2014 annual convention March 29 & 30th in Green Bay. Along with traditional business and design sessions, this year’s conference also had two new features - a shop competition and a professional design competition.
FloristWare was pleased to sponsor Tim Huckabee of FloralStrategies as he presented two business sessions. The first was “Smarter Selling the FloralStrategies Way”, which Tim describes as a 90 minutes of “tough love”. The florists were given an introduction to some FloralStrategies processes and tools that they could take back to their store and implement immediately. These are proven to be successful - a shop owner from Waukesha WI who was at the session confessed his own sales had increased by 33% after recently working with FloralStrategies.
On Sunday, Tim delivered a keynote address titled “How to Be a Better Manager”. Drawing on his extensive background working with over 3,500 florists in three continents (plus his own time in a floral shop), Tim shared tips on what to do and what to avoid when hiring, training and managing your staff, plus selling and general shop management ideas.
WUMFA is now setting its sights on next year’s convention, tentatively scheduled for March 21 & 22, 2015 at the same location.
You can look for Tim Huckabee at the upcoming SAF Retail Growth Solutions conference, June 10 & 11 in Chicago, and the Texas State Floral Association show July 18-20th.
