The Texas State Florists Association (TSFA) was founded in 1914 and is a professional trade association for all branches of the floral industry. TSFA is a unified organization of professionals, and is committed to energizing its Membership through educational opportunities, legislative involvement, marketing and professional services, thus developing an increased desire for floral products and services.
Design Contest
Each year at their annual convention the FSFA hosts a floral design competition for the Texas Designer of the Year.
Annual Convention
Each year, usually in June, the TSFA hosts a large, in-person convention at a different location in the state. Highlights include the Texas Designer of the Year competition, a busy trade fair that connects florists and floral industry suppliers, and valuable educational content from some of the best speakers in the business.
Certification
The TSFA also offers one of the most complete educational curriculums in the floral industry: The Texas Master Certified Florist program. Divided into three segments (Design Production, Design Management and Master Florist Certification) the program benefits not just floral designers but managers and shop owners as well. Those who complete the program earn the right to use the TMF designation, a respected post-nominal in the floral industry, after their name.
Scholarships
The TSFA offers ten different scholarships in amounts up to $3,000. It really is an incredible number of opportunities for aspiring florists and floral designers seeking financial support so please check out the scholarships section of the TSFA website. Applications for all TSFA scholarships are generally due mid March each year.
