The Great Lakes Floral Association (GLFA), founded in 1920 as the Michigan Floral Association (MFA), is a full-service trade association representing florists, growers, suppliers, wholesalers, educators and students.
The GLFA provides education and professional partnerships, sponsors the Certified Florist (CF) program, creates and hosts The Great Lakes Floral and Event Expo conducts educational seminars at the Professional Education Center, partners with local wholesale houses around MI to produce design seminars.

Each March the GLFA holds their annual convention, the Great Lakes Floral and Event Expo (GLFEE). Geared towards both florists and event planners this is one of the very best events in the flower business.

Scholarships
The Great Lakes Floral Association awards scholarships of up to $1000. Funds may be used:
- towards the cost of the Certified Florist program
- to attend a professional education center workshop
- to attend the Great Lakes Floral & Event Expo
Any funds not used in the time frame will be rolled back into the GLFA general scholarship fund. The scholarship will be issued in the form of a credit voucher. Applicants are chosen on the basis of their individual motivation toward a floriculture career path. Scholarship recipients are eligible to apply for another scholarship 12 months after their current scholarship has expired.Application deadline is June 30th each year. Applications can be made online.
