The James Lowe Memorial Award

In honour of James Lowe, and with the blessing of his family, FloristWare is pleased to offer the James Lowe Memorial Award to help a floral designer attend the AIFD Symposium.

James was a special. He was a talented designer, a generous volunteer to floral industry associations and an inspiration to young men in his home town. He was also humble and low-key – he never sought the spotlight, and he always gave more than he took. He just seemed to take up a little less room in the world than he could have.

It’s rare to meet someone in floral industry circles who doesn’t have a story about James. AIFD veterans knew him as a dedicated member that brought all his energy and enthusiasm to each of the many volunteer roles he filled and boards he served on. So many new inductees have a story about James welcoming them, making them feel at home in the design room, and encouraging them to participate as volunteers. His vendors recall him as smart operator brimming with new ideas, and as a champion of his home North Dakota State Florists Association and annual convention.

"James was a very wonderful, talented and genuine person. His dedication to the industry was wonderful and he always brought 110% to the table. He will be missed."

- J Robbin Yelverton AAF, AIFD, CFD, MCF, PFCI Blumz by JRDesigns Co-Owner

James was taken from us far too early, in the late summer of 2018 at only 38 years of age. In honour of his memory, and with the blessing of his family, FloristWare is pleased to offer the James Lowe Symposium Scholarship, an award of $2,500 in financial support to help a floral designer attend the AIFD Symposium. James made this industry a better place, and the goal of this award is to encourage others to follow his example.

"Those of us lucky enough to have known James will never forget him, or what he taught us about how to approach this industry. The goal of this award is to ensure that the next generation know his name and emulate the spirit with which he approached the flower business."

- Mark Anderson FloristWare Founder

James was passionate about many things, chief among them floral design and supporting industry organizations – in particular AIFD and his home North Dakota State Florists Association.

With that in mind this award is open to anyone who is…

1. Attending AIFD Symposium
2. An active volunteer with AIFD.
3. An active volunteer with one other association (SAF, their state association, etc.).

The award will take the form of one Symposium Registration (valued at approximately $1,000) and $1500 to help cover expenses – a total of approximately $2,500.

Mose details will be shared through the FloristWare blog and our social media channels.
